COVID-19 Emergency Addendum

and Membership Application Guideline Change

  1. Context

    1. Prior to July 26, 2020, a critical aspect of the membership process for The Satanic Temple Indiana Congregation has been the “In-Person Meeting.” Prospective members were required to attend at least one in-person event hosted by the congregation and meet congregation Leadership face-to-face. Membership applications would not be accepted unless this requirement was met. The simple purpose of this requirement is to ensure the safety of our members.

    2. Due to the COVID-19 global pandemic, all in-person meetings and events had been postponed until further notice. As such, no new membership applications have been accepted.

    3. The International Council had mandated that all in-person meetings be postponed until a further review in August 2020.

  2. Action Proposed

    1. As of the time of writing, July 26, 2020, COVID-19 cases in the United States have reached an unprecedented number. Though the International Council has not offered further guidance, it can be reasonably assumed that the August review will result in the in-person meeting cancelation continuing at least through the remainder of the year.

    2. Due to this, The Satanic Temple Indiana Congregation Leadership Council proposes to resume new Membership Applications with adjusted requirements which reflect the current state of the world.

  3. Specific Change to Guidelines:

    1. “Due to the ongoing and worsening COVID-19 global pandemic, TST Indiana Congregation has not hosted any in-person events since March 2020. Consequently, all membership applications (which required attendance at an in-person event) had been rejected outright until safer conditions were reached. This decision has now been reconsidered. Effective immediately, all prospective members will be required to attend at least two online events to be considered for membership. Only then will a membership application be considered.”
